Could David be gearing up for another Broadway musical, starring alongside none other than Harry Potter? He’s taken part in a reading of the Pulitzer-winning How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying with Dan Radcliffe and Ugly Betty‘s Michael Urie. According to a BroadwayWorld source:
I was lucky enough to accompany one of the invited guests to the private reading of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. It took place Monday (Dec 21) at Playwrights’ Horizons at 3pm in one of their rehearsal rooms. I was told that the guest list was very tight and not a lot of people were allowed to go because it was more of a test run and not any kind of backers’ audition.

The first two episodes of Stingray Sam, the space cowboy musical narrated by David, are now available to watch for free! Here’s ‘Factory Fugitives’ and ‘The Forbidden Chromosome’ – both hilarious. If you’ve a craving for more Liberty Chew chewing tobacco, you can buy the full movie at director Cory McAbee’s website!
Here are some gorge portraits of David taken in February 2009:

According to the photographer, Brian Smith:
David Hyde Pierce reminds me of a modern day Buster Keaton. He can do more with a raised eyebrow than most physical comedians can do with their entire body. I photographed David in Beverly Hills during Oscar Week for the Creative Coalition’s book Art & Soul, which paired portraits of celebrities with their hand-written testimonials about the importance of the arts. The book was taken to the White House and Congress in May 2009 to successfully lobby for increased funding for the arts and arts education.
Many thanks to josmonster from the forum and Brian Smith for making this happen!

We figure they’ll be first with any news of screenings, trailers, pics … and nuggets from Sundance, of course!
David will host a fundraising event honouring musical theatre legend John Kander in March 2010.
Kander is being honoured by the non-profit Vineyard Theatre, which from February will be presenting The Scottsboro Boys, the second Kander/Ebb musical to be completed since Ebb’s death in 2004 (the first being Curtains).
The fundraiser honouring Kander will take place on 8 March 2010 at the Hudson Theatre in New York City.
The always interesting Huffington Post has a new review of the Holiday Show. Cheesy but feelgood is the verdict!
By the time David Hyde Pierce and Michael Feinstein sang Cole Porter’s ‘You’re the Top’ last night at Feinstein’s at Loews Regency, I’d been smiling for so long that my cheeks ached. Their retro holiday nightclub act, which plays until December 30, invoked male performers of another era whose duets (Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye in White Christmas, or Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire in The Ziegfeld Follies) were always gay in the lively and bright sense. Although, gay in the other sense admirably captures the spirit of the evening, as well.

David appeared as a guest on The Joy Behar Show tonight, talking about coming out. Interesting quote: “There came a point where ‘live and let live’ started to feel like ‘don’t ask, don’t tell.’” Quite!
Also, we are amused by the caption in the background: ‘Down With DHP’! We’re pretty sure it’s not meant to be an insult …

Got this from the Sundance website. Look at him wield that poker! There’s also a little bit more info on the film …
Warwick Wilson is the consummate host. He carefully prepares for a dinner party, the table impeccably set and the duck perfectly timed for 8:30 pm. John Taylor is a career criminal. He’s just robbed a bank and needs to get off the streets. He finds himself on Warwick’s doorstep posing as a friend of a friend, new to Los Angeles, who’s been mugged and lost his luggage. As the wine flows and the evening progresses, we become deeply intertwined in the lives of these two men and discover just how deceiving appearances can be.
With outstanding performances by David Hyde Pierce and Clayne Crawford, cowriter/director Nick Tomnay takes us on a suspense-filled ride where nothing is as it seems. The Perfect Host is a slippery psychological thriller that exposes true human nature and reveals just how far we’re willing to go to satisfy our needs.
