You may recall David hosting a concert celebrating Stephen Sondheim’s 80th birthday. According to the Playbill blog, the concert will not only air on PBS on 24 November, but will be released on DVD the same month. So we’ll all have a chance to watch David’s performance of ‘Beautiful Girls’!

Just a heads-up:

David will be a guest on The 5 O’Clock Show with Fern Britton on Channel 4 this Thursday.

(If you have to ask what time it’s on, we fear for you!)

David will appear as part of the Broadway Talks conversation series being held at the 92nd St Y in New York this fall.

The series features a different Broadway performer in conversation with Jordan Roth each night. David is pencilled in for Sunday 24 October, with tickets going at $29.

More details at BroadwayWorld and at the 92Y website.

Stylish, eh? It reminds me a little of the poster for Brick. In further Perfect Host news, the movie sold in seven territories after its screenings at Cannes in May, according to The Hollywood Reporter:

Nick Tomnay’s The Perfect Host starring David Hyde Pierce, Clayne Crawford and Helen Reddy, sold in seven territories including: French Connection Films for France; Festival Films for Spain; All Interactive Media in Australia/New Zealand; Bejing Asian Culture for China; Front Row Entertainment in the Middle East; Videx for all pay TV rights in Latin America; and Jaguar Films for all international airline rights.

Here’s hoping we get a chance to see it soon!

David will be in studio for BBC Radio 4′s Front Row programme at 7.15pm tomorrow evening.

Check out the website where hopefully a podcast will appear later this week!

One of this year’s most anticipated productions opens here in London before transferring straight to Broadway. La Bête stars the extraordinary, multi award-winning Mark Rylance; David Hyde Pierce, best known as for his brilliant portrayal of Niles Crane in the best-ever TV sitcom Frasier and a seasoned theatre performer; and Joanna Lumley, who also achieved TV sitcom immortality as Patsy Stone in Ab Fab. David Hirson’s 1991 play – a battle between Valère, a lowbrow street clown, and high-minded dramatist Elomire to win the theatrical favours of a princess, all in rhyming couplets – won an Olivier award when it was staged here with Alan Cumming at the Lyric Hammersmith. It failed to transfer, but Cumming went on to success on the back of Cabaret. Rylance will no doubt rise to the challenge here, too.

Looks like our forum rumours were true! David and La Bete co-star Joanna Lumley will be appearing as the guests of everyone’s favourite camp Irishman on The Graham Norton Show next Monday, 21 June.

Should be a lot of fun. Check the official site for the schedule!

TheaterMania has a few quotes from David in its Tonys roundup. He talks about sharing the stage with Kelsey again and those persistent How to Succeed in Business rumours …

Isabelle Stevenson Award winner David Hyde Pierce, who was honored for his work with the Alzheimer’s Association, said this Tony ceremony was very different than the one when he won for Best Actor in a Musical for Curtains. “They called a few weeks ago to tell me they were giving me this award, so I was not sweating bullets tonight. That made it more pleasant.” Pierce also loved the fact that he got to present an award with his longtime Frasier co-star Kelsey Grammer. “We see each other all the time, but it was great not just to be on stage with him, but in front of the camera together again. That was really cool.”

Pierce will be back on stage soon; he’s rehearsing for the London production of La Bete, which will immediately transfer to Broadway in the fall. “I always pick my projects based on who I get to work with, and I am working with Joanna Lumley, Mark Rylance, and Matthew Warchus on this fascinating play. I am having the time of my life.” As for whether he will play the role of J.B Biggley in the upcoming Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying opposite Daniel Radcliffe — the part he played in the show’s workshop production — the actor would only say that it’s still a possibility.

The official website for La Bete is a holding page no more! Some sections are still under construction – no photos yet, sadly – but bios for the cast and crew are up, as is fulsome information on tickets and theatres. Go have a look!
